IMPORTANT: Test Curl - Complete a strand test of perm on a small patch of hair, according to the directions, to determine timing and results. CLEANSING: Shampoo hair gently with Paul Mitchell Charcoal Clay Cleanse. Rinse thoroughly and towel-dry. Apply Paul Mitchell Porosity Equalizer, do not rinse. WRAPPING: Select proper rod size for the curl desired. This permanent wave is true to rod size. Wrap hair with even tension, keeping hair moist by rewetting with water. After wrapping is complete, mist hair lightly with water to equalize porosity and ensure an even curl pattern. Apply a protective cream like Paul Mitchell Super-Charged Treatment and cotton around the hairline and ears. Place a towel around the nape of neck. Use wood or plastic picks between hair and rubber bands to prevent “band marks". PROCESSING: DO NOT USE HEAT. Snip tip of Waving Lotion applicator bottle and apply to all wound curls (top and bottom of all rods), making sure all rods are evenly saturated. Cap not required. Start timing immediately. Process for 10-20 minutes. Test curl at 10 minutes. After processing is complete, rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water for at least 5 minutes. Towel blot to remove excess moisture. NEUTRALIZATION: Neutralization is the most important step in the process. Good Neutralization guarantees that the hair will be locked into its new style. Poor Neutralization leads to over processing, hair breakage and reversion. These directions must be followed: Snip tip of Neutralizer applicator bottle and apply 3/4 of Neutralizer to all wound curls, top, middle and underneath (lift curl to apply to each rod). Be sure to thoroughly saturate each curl. Allow Neutralizer to remain on hair for a full 10 minutes. At the end of 5 minutes, gently remove all rods from hair. Pour remaining Neutralizer on hair and gently massage through the hair for 5 minutes. Rinse hair thoroughly with lukewarm water. FINISHING: Do not blow-dry hair after perm. Instead, sculpt hair into any shape desired using Paul Mitchell styling products, and allow hair to dry naturally. The client should avoid saturating hair with water or any liquid for 48 hours after the perm. MAINTENANCE: Recommend a Take Home regimen for your guest using Paul Mitchell care and styling products.
